A different gang war! Monkeys resolve their differences in the city center [VIDEO]

Residents of the town of Lop Buri in Thailand experienced an unusual incident when hundreds of monkeys gathered on a main road to resolve their differences.

The wild monkeys had formed two rival groups and began to “fight” in front of the eyes of the shocked guides, reminiscent of a scene from the fantasy movie “Planet of the Apes”.

According to the residents of this city, who are familiar with the monkeys for which they organize an annual festival also known as “Monkey Buffet”, the reason for the dispute was the food.

The monkeys are usually well fed by visitors but the measures of the coronavirus pandemic have led to a lack of food for the animals in the city of central Thailand.

As seen in the video, the two rival “monkey-gangs” collide at the busy intersection, while terrified drivers wait in their cars for more than four minutes.

One of the gangs is believed to be based on the sites of an ancient temple – a popular tourist attraction where locals feed them – while the other comes from an abandoned cinema.

Local authorities have launched mass sterilization programs to control the number of monkeys, but the pandemic has thwarted their plans.

According to veterinarian Supakarn Kaewchot: “Monkeys are used to being fed by tourists, who have not been coming to town lately due to the measures, resulting in animals becoming more aggressive, even ‘fighting’ humans to survive. . “They are invading buildings and forcing locals to leave their homes.”
