A 5-year-old boy was accidentally killed Thursday night while a group of teenagers were shooting a video to post on social networking sites, Brooklyn Park police said today.
According to police authorities, a 13-year-old allegedly accidentally shot the infant. The teenager was arrested and taken to a juvenile detention center.
Many other children were present at the incident, in a house on the outskirts of Minneapolis, trying to make a video.
On Thursday, Thanksgiving, at least 35 people were killed by gunfire, according to the Gun Violence Archives website. A 5-year-old girl died in South Fulton, a suburb of Atlanta. In Philadelphia, a 25-year-old man was killed by a stray bullet while having dinner with his family. Police are searching for a 19-year-old man who allegedly shot him after he was kicked out of a party at a neighboring house.
More than 40,000 people have been killed by gunfire in the United States since the beginning of the year. This number also includes suicides. According to the Gun violence Archives, the list of victims also includes 274 children under 12 years old.
