A horrific crime involving a teenage girl shocks Britain . The 12-year-old girl lost her life after suffering “catastrophic injuries” during a quarrel in the center of Liverpool.
Ava White was with friends in Liverpool when she was attacked on Thursday night. Merseyside police had previously said he was stabbed, but later said an autopsy would be performed to determine the cause of death.
Four teenage boys, aged between 13 and 15, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Police found the girl had collapsed to the ground in Church Alley shortly after the city’s official Christmas decorations . A stranger who was an eyewitness to the incident offered her first aid, police said.
The center of Liverpool was packed at the time of the incident, as the lights on the Christmas tree on Church Street were officially turned on a little earlier. Police appealed to anyone in the area who saw the incident and contacted them immediately.
The girl was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where she died shortly afterwards . Assistant Chief of Staff Jon Roy expressed his condolences to Ava’s family, which is backed by specialist officers.
“Their world has been shattered and no parent should ever face a knock on the door by police to tell them that their child has died.”
Authorities believe Ava and her friends were involved in a verbal altercation that ended in a savage attack on her, causing fatal injuries.
The four young men have been arrested and are being questioned as murder suspects.
