A dispute that threatened to oust Deputy President William Ruto from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has been resolved.

This is after former chairman Mr Mohamed Noor dropped the case he presented before the Panel for Dispute Resolution of Political Parties.

Mr Noor had opposed the party’s new leader’s manifesto, published by the Registrar of Political Parties, which recognized Dr Ruto’s allies as the party’s legitimate leaders.

Dismissing the case, he said he was satisfied with the decision of the registrar of parties through a notice he published on March 19 recognizing Dr Ruto’s allies as UDA party leaders.

“The complainant is satisfied with the defendant’s decision through a notice in the official gazette,” Mr Noor said in an agreement to end the dispute.

The three are political allies of Dr Ruto who has been campaigning for the party. Mr Muthama and Dr Khalwale and other allies of Dr Ruto have announced that the party will be the party’s Deputy President for the 2022 general election.

In his case, he asked the panel to reinstate UDA party ownership. He complained that the approval of Dr Ruto’s allies as party officials was illegal.

In a lawsuit filed by a political party panel, Mr Noor stated that former secretary general Mohammed Sahal, who approved the change of party officials, was a public servant and therefore did not have the authority to do so.

“The matter has been resolved between the complainant, the accused and those involved in the case,” said the agreement to end the dispute. Senator Elgeyo Marakwet Kipchumba Murkomen, led Dr Ruto’s allies to enjoy the move.

“The minor issue between Mr Abdi Noor Mohamed and UDA Kenya has been resolved amicably,” Mr Murkomen wrote on Twitter.
