Trevor Pelling had a heart attack while trying to save his two daughters from drowning on Kalanda Beach.
The vacation of a British family in Portugal turned into a tragedy , as the father lost his life, trying to save his two daughters from drowning.
The incident happened on Thursday afternoon when Trevor Pelling saw his girls, 9 and 12 years old, moving away from the shore due to strong currents.
Without thinking, he dived into the water and began to fight with the waves in order to pull them out. However, on his attempt, he suffered a heart attack , which eventually cost him his life.
Two surfers at the scene pulled the 45-year-old man and his daughters ashore, where a nurse and bathers began trying to retrieve him.
These were continued by firefighters and the ambulance crew who were notified, but to no avail.
His two children, accompanied by their mother, were transported to Santa Maria Hospital, with their condition stable and being monitored by a psychologist.
It is worth noting that this beach is expected to have lifeguards, only this is done from June 12 onwards.
