A resident of the Kazakh city of Almaty has killed five people, including two police officers, when police and bailiffs tried to evict him from his home on Monday, authorities said.
The incident took place in the western suburbs of the largest city in the Central Asian country, police said in a statement, adding that they have arrested the perpetrator, who was born in 1967.
It was not immediately clear who the other three victims were.
Armed attacks on police are rare in the oil-rich former Soviet Union, which has strict gun controls and a relatively high standard of living.
