A Russian military helicopter crashed in the Gatsina area near St. Petersburg on Thursday, killing three people, local officials said.
“We have received information about the crash of a Mi-8 helicopter, rescuers have gone to the spot,” said the local branch of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The three crew members of the helicopter, which belonged to the Russian National Guard, were killed, local news website Fontanka reported, citing a ministry spokesman. According to this source, the transport helicopter crashed while performing a training flight.
