According to an eyewitness, the man sneaked into a kitchen and stole a pot with food cooking inside.
Meru: A man suspected of being a thief was beaten allegedly by a mob after they reportedly caught him sneaking into a house in Kinoru village in Meru County, an eyewitness.
However, the man was caught by a mob and brutally beaten up by them on suspicion of theft.
According to the suspect, he saw someone else steal the pot with the food cooking in it and that it wasn’t him.
“When I was looking for directions to my sister’s place, I was ambushed by two men who started pursuing me down. I tossed a stone back at them after they threw one at me. Shortly after, I was violently battered by a mob. I implore anyone with proof that I stole from them to come forward,” said the suspect.
According to another eyewitness, the suspect was apprehended while loitering in the area, allegedly plotting a robbery.

“He intended to assault our landlord’s son, and if armed, he would have murdered two people in the thicket where he had hidden,” said an eyewitness.
“A thief attempted to break into a tenant’s home around 12.30 a.m. today. At 8:00 p.m., snatch thieves are stealing mobile phones from members of the community along Makutano-Gitwiki road,” said an eyewitness.
The eyewitness claimed that members of the community can’t hang their clothes on clotheslines because they get stolen during the day. Also during the night, chickens are stolen from their cages.
According to another eyewitness, the suspect was apprehended along a road that led to private property. He said that it was clear that the suspect was on a robbery mission.
