Aspirant Bundi Kirimi Alleges Crucial Details About Kiagu By-Election, Calls for This Action

Must read

MCA Aspirant for Kiagu Ward by-election under Safina Party Of Kenya, Douglas Bundi Kirimi has now delivered critical information about the election.

This is after 12 aspirants in the region blamed the security officials for barring them from conducting meetings with the exception of the UDA party.

“Meru Senator Mithika Linturi is a member of a UDA political party cartel that bribed Kiagu Ward security officials at all levels, from the lowest Job Group level to the highest. 11 Kiagu Ward aspirants, including a lady, are unable to campaign because Linturi’s and Kirima’s bribes have resulted in our oppression,” said Bundi.

He said that the Member of Parliament representing Imenti Central Constituency, Hon. Moses Nguchine Kirima after his victory in August 2017, had a poor track record when it comes to road construction and development, and is actively involved in the Kiagu Ward by-election.

“Matiangi should be aware that during the day and night, security officials in Kiagu Ward are actively engaged in providing protection to the UDA party. What surprises us is that UDA party officials bribed security officials in Kiagu Ward in exchange for permission to hold meetings, despite the government’s ban on gatherings and meetings,” said Bundi.

He said that as a result of the move, the remaining aspirants have been left without a voice and without peace, as they have been denied the equal right to hold meetings.

“UDA recently held a meeting in which 220 people attended and another 200 were barred from attending. We demand answers from the government on why the UDA was permitted to hold meetings in Kauthene and Gikuuru. Recently, the UDA held meetings at night in the Makandune sublocation under the government’s watch,” said Bundi.

According to Bundi, when the police and administration were questioned, they claimed that no such meeting had taken place and that they were unaware of it.

“I implore Interior CS Matiangi to intervene and treat all aspirants equally, as well as to stop dispatching police officers to disperse every meeting we have. Kiagu Ward MCA aspirant B.K cannot canvass Kiagu Ward for votes, but the UDA candidate is not questioned,” said Bundi.

He said that all aspirants were capable of conducting meetings and urged CS Matiangi should let them know if money was required to hold meetings so that they would deliver it to the Ministry of Interior offices in Nairobi.

“We’re puzzled as to why the rest of the aspirants aren’t also protected by the government. If any of us are seen greeting the elderly, the police will handcuff us out of nowhere,” said Bundi.
