At least 19 people were killed in a lorry crash that fell into a river in the north of the country, police said on Wednesday.
The accident happened on Tuesday night, when 57 people, mainly traders of goats and beans, were riding in the truck heading to Kasama, almost 850 km north of the capital, Luzaka, the head of the provincial police, Jello, explained to the French Agency.
According to the police officer, five people were seriously injured, while another 21 were not injured. Among the latter is the driver, who fled, according to the same source.
