All injured taken to nearby hospitals – Tunisian National Railways says investigation
At least 30 people were injured today in a collision between two trains in the Tunisian capital , the Tunisian radio network Mosaique reported.
The collision of the two passenger trains at the “Megrine Riadh” station, happened around 7:20 p.m. said Hassen Miaadi, a spokesman for the Tunisian National Railway Company (SNCFT).
All the injured were taken to nearby hospitals to receive the necessary treatment.
The Tunisian National Railway Company said it had launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the conflict and find those responsible, according to Tunisian television Nessma.
There have been several train collisions in the last decade in Tunisia, most notably in June 2015, when more than a dozen people were killed and 70 others injured.
Conflicts are responsible for deteriorating infrastructure and a lack of protected train crossings.
