After a series of shipwrecks with migrants, 49 bodies were collected off the coast of Tunisia, a spokesman for the Tunisian security forces told the German Agency on Monday.
Four boats sank off the city of Sfax (south) in the last five days, the spokesman said. The passengers, mostly migrants from sub-Saharan Africa, were trying to reach Europe, he added.

As the weather is good at the moment, hundreds of migrants are trying to cross into Italy from Libya and Tunisia.
According to the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES), about 3,000 have been able to arrive in Italy since leaving Tunisia during the year, of which more than 1,100 in June alone.
