Bishop Hon. Kawira Mwangaza informed the Athwana Bidii Self Help Group, while delivering a 100,000Ksh cheque, that her office upholds high levels of transparency and integrity when granting cash grants.
She described the steps Meru county self-help groups take when requesting cash grants as follows:
Fill in the name of your self-help group.
Fill out the details of the self-help group’s activities.
Indicate how much money is to be financed.
Hon. Bishop Kawira Mwangaza said that later, all proposals are transported to Nairobi for verification. All groups are funded based on the recommendations made for each group, and a check is written. She collects the cheques and distributes them to the self-help groups.
The Kiraitu Murungi-led Meru county government, on the other hand, engages in massive acts of corruption in which public funds are pocketed by a few.
The Kithaku/Andune residents, in songs dedicated to Bishop Hon. Kawira Mwangaza were ready for change as a result of their disenfranchisement with the Meru county government’s ideological bankruptcy, and necessarily as a result of Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s incompetence.
