While presenting a Ksh 100,000 cheque to the Golden Visioners Women Group, Bishop Hon. Kawira Mwangaza strongly advised the members to start an income-generating project because they may be eligible for funding again if the project progresses.
She went on to say that a group of conmen used to go around communities claiming that the money she brought would be subject to a return fee. It meant that the groups were obligated to repay a certain amount.
The conmen alledged that the return fee was to cover the cost of the proposal document as well as other miscellaneous expenses.
She informed the members that her office, unlike Kinga’ng’i’s, does not engage in corruption.
Irene, speaking on behalf of the group said: “When I came into the village, I discovered that the women in the community had not formed a group.
We came together as the youth and told them that the vision we had was to educate the young generation on how to live with women so that the community would grow.
We assured the women that we would guide them as the younger generation and that we expected to be corrected if we made a mistake.
Some members contribute Ksh 400 per month, while others contribute Ksh 200. We will help ourselves based on the contributions made once we have received funding.”
