People are always willing to obey the orders they will receive, even if they are going to shock their fellow human beings. Nine out of ten would do so, if this is the order from above, as proved by Polish social psychologists, who repeated the famous Milgram Experiment, with which the American psychologist had shocked the world in the 1960s.
Then, in a landmark experiment in the science of psychology, which “illuminated” the conditions prevailing in Nazi Germany (and beyond), Stanley Milgram of Yale University had shown that, under pressure from the government, people are willing to carry out orders, even if they will harm others. Although in reality the experiment did not actually involve electroshock, the participants – who thought they were performing electroshock – carried out the majority of the above commands.
