Boda boda operators conduct foot search for motorcycle thieves

Kaanwa boda boda operators of Tharaka Nithi County conducted a foot search in the village after a stolen motorcycle was found.

“We formed a search team with and were successful in recovering a stolen motorcycle, but it wasn’t the one we were looking for. We request that the police act quickly to apprehend the suspect. There are two stolen motorcycles that have yet to be found,” said Muriithi.

The police arrived on the scene shortly after the search team recovered one of the stolen motorcycles.

A boda boda operator said the police only respond after motorcycle theft suspects have been apprehended.

“They demand money when they arrest us for breaking traffic laws. When our motorcycles are stolen, they do not follow up after we report them missing. The police station should be closed down because the officers are useless to us,” a boda boda operator said.

A police spokesperson stated that they would respond to their complaints as soon as possible.

He said Kaanwa police are still looking for suspects.

Elsewhere, there was drama in Mukuyu area in the outskirts of Murang’a town when a notorious gangster who has been terrorizing residents was cornered and arrested.

The suspect whose name was not identified at the time of coming to the press, was beaten mercilessly by the residents, had his hands tied by ropes before he was presented to the police.

“He stole my clothes from the hanging line and fled on a bicycle. Later, he appeared again in ” said a resident. Township chief Charles Muna had already highlighted this suspect on social media.

“When I posted this suspect on social media, residents because alert and started looking for him”.

Mukuyu Assistant Chief Adams Kariuki and his Karuri counterpart Samuel Gichia said they were alerted by wananchi, and arrested the suspect just when he was in possession of stolen goods.

He was put into a police vehicle and taken to Murang’s police station as investigations commence.
