The body of an unidentified woman was spotted in bushes in Nthang’a Nturuba in Meru County by villagers.
“It appears the woman was killed somewhere else and her body dumped here,” an eyewitness said. The Assistant chief said the scene was near a sacred mountain.
At around 8 p.m., I received a report of a decomposed dead body discovered in a bush. I asked the owner of a nearby home to report the incident. I implore Thang’a Nturuba residents to look out for one another and keep in touch so that when incidents like this occur in the future, tracking and identification will be easier, said the assistant cheif.
Another resident urged residents to make frequent visits to their lands, which had been neglected for years with bushes.
He said that the body appeared to have been wrapped in polythene paper, which was found at the crime scene.
According to another eyewitness, a lesso and a pair of rubber shoes were found a few meters away from the crime scene.
“I implore residents to refrain from conducting prayers at the sacred mountain as the murderers may still be at large. The owner of the house near where the body was discovered works as a guard at Kangeta. He was unaware of the decomposing body until he accidentally bumped into it,” said an eyewitness.
“The body appeared to have been at the scene for a month before being discovered. I believe she was killed elsewhere and then brought to the scene,” said an eyewitness.
She urged residents to exercise caution when walking alone in the bushes.
