The chief at Kipkona-Igembe said that the government is urging residents to pick up their huduma number cards that lie uncollected at Kiengu.
He said that the collection point being Kiengu, it only takes a few minutes to get there and collect the card.
Adding to his sentiments he strongly advised the residents to prepare and plow their lands in order to start planting.
“You will be able to provide for your families after harvest, as opposed to those who did not farm and are waiting to steal,” he said.
“We want criminals who are breaking into stores and stealing to know that their days are numbered. For example, we had an incident where thieves broke into a shop and ate the food that the owner had prepared before fleeing.
“It means that people are going hungry, so I urge you to start farming. I’d like to warn illegal brew dealers that we will arrest you and ensure that this area is completely drug-free. We apprehended and prosecuted over 7 illegal brew dealers in Kiutine last month. They were granted bond and released.
“Illicit brewers should not believe that the courts are closed due to the coronavirus.
If you hear of any cases of female genital mutilation in the area, please report it. Female circumcision has been prohibited by the Njuri Ncheke elders since the 1950s. People should understand that the practices were long abandoned and are now illegal.
“Farm animal theft has been reported in some cases. I urge residents to work together to identify new visitors in the area and to report any suspicious activity. Residents should be the first line of defense.
“Motorcycle thefts have increased dramatically. Owners of motorcycles are asked to register them at the chief’s and assistant chief’s offices.
Registration will aid in the tracking of theft, and if the motorcycles are not registered, the government will repossess them. The owner will be prosecuted and may lose the motorcycles,” he said
The assistant chief said: “I’d like to thank the community for its assistance in the fight against illegal brew. After all of the suspects were apprehended, the area was completely devoid of illegal brew,” he said.
“I’m relieved to learn that the majority of those who supplied the brew have moved on to other legal endeavors. Some have become butchers, while others work for pay.I strongly urge you to report any suspicious dealers who have been left behind so that I may apprehend them.
“According to reports, suspected bhang peddlers are distributing it on motorcycles. We strongly urge you to report them so that we can apprehend them and seize their motorcycles.
“We strongly advise parents to keep track of their children’s whereabouts at all times. They should ensure that the children are safe during the vacation and that they return to school to finish their education.
“Allowing children to visit relatives during the corona should be prohibited. Parents should wait for the chaos to pass. Boys who have finished primary school are eligible for initiation. I don’t want to hear about an incident in which a class six or four boy was initiated because it would boost their ego.
“They will eventually drop out of school because they will feel mature enough to make their own decisions. I urge the residents to wash their hands as often as possible and to always wear a mask.
“Make sure that market vendors have water tanks where customers can wash their hands with soap.
