Kenyans will be required to be fully vaccinated and show proof of vaccination before seeking Government services, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The services include; KRA services, Education, Immigration Services, Hospital and Prison visitation, NTSA and port services among others.

The new measures announced Sunday by Health Cabinet Secretary will start effect in December 21st 2021.

All motorable operators including Drivers, Conductors, Bodaboda riders, Pilots, Air Hostesses, and others working in the sector will also be needed to be fully vaccinated and carry verification proof at all times.

The measures in the transport sector will be coordinated by the Ministry of Transport and in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

While addressing the Media at Afya House, CS Kagwe said that the measures have also been extended to National Parks and Game Reserves, Hotels, Bars and Restaurants where Kenyans will show proof of vaccination before admission.

Also travelers from outside the continent will be required to provide proof of vaccination before admission to tourist spots in the country.

“All businesses, including Small and Medium Enterprises serving 50 or more people a day to put up signage requiring proof of vaccination before entry into their premises and their patrons to be fully vaccinated,” said Kagwe.

In order to accelerate vaccination, the Ministry in collaboration with County Governments and other stakeholders will be undertaking a ten-day mass vaccination exercise from November 26 with the aim of administering adequate vaccines to as many people as possible ahead of the deadline.

The Health CS said that the measurements come at a time when Governments throughout are debating whether to re-impose strong restrictions as we head into the festive season.

“In the rest of the world, measures being considered in some of the countries include lockdown in Australia, for those who aren’t fully vaccinated, and restrictions on conferences and events in China’s capital city of Beijing and total lockdowns in Netherlands,” he said.
