CS Matiang’i responds to National Security Committee questions

The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security Chaired by Limuru Member of Parliament Hon. Peter Mwathi today held a meeting with the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Security led by the Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i.

The CS and his team were appearing before the Committee to respond to questions by hon. Members directed to the Ministry.

He responded to questions by:

(i) Hon. Charity Chepkwony on the plight of internally displaced persons in Njoro Constituency.

(ii) Hon. (Capt) Ruweida Obo Mohammed on the plight of Bajun Community of the coastal region.

(iii) Hon. Ali Wario on operationalization of administrative and service delivery coordination unit.

(iv) Hon. Rigathi Gachagua on organized criminal groups in Mathira Constituency targeting boda boda riders.(v) Hon. Omar Mwinyi on issuance of National Identify Cards.

(vi) Hon. Omar Mwinyi on recruitment into the National Police Service.

(vii) Hon. David ole Sankok on the killing of Christopher Nderitu a Person Living with Disability by speeding motor vehicle.

Additionally, Dr. Mating’i gave statements as sought by Hon. Members as follows;

(i) Hon. William Kamket regarding the recent killings and ongoing operation in Kapedo area, Baringo

(ii) Hon. Rashid Ahmed regarding increased incidents of detention of residents of Wajir East Constituency.

(iii) Hon. Geoffrey King’ang’i regarding evictions of residents of Ndunguni in Makema Ward of Mbeere South Constituency.

(iv) Hon. Walter Owino regarding the abduction of Mr. Joseph Ochieng’ in Awendo Constituency.

Accompanying the CS were the Principal Secretary Eng. (Dr) Karanja Kibicho, the Chief Administrative Secretary Amb. Hussein Dado and the Inspector General of Police Mr. Hillary Mutyambai.
