DCI: Pastor rescued from an armed gang

0

After being rescued from an armed gang that had taken him hostage last night, a 57-year-old pastor at a Kabete Anglican Church considers himself fortunate to be alive. At 8 p.m., four armed men kidnapped the clergyman John Dinguri Chege as he rode home in his white Nissan Advan.

The gangsters seized possession of the vehicle and drove it to Kiamumbi, in Kiambu County. When officers learned of the incident, they immediately pursued the perpetrators, while another team set up an ambush along Kamiti Lane.

The vehicle was eventually intercepted some metres past Jacaranda in a well-executed attempt to save the man of the cloth from the jaws of the bloodthirsty mob. The criminals were told to surrender, but they refused, resulting in a shootout in which two of the thugs were killed.

Two other suspects managed to flee the scene with bullet wounds in the dead of night, leaving the severely shaken Church Minister in the hands of our officers. Suspects were found with a smith and wesson pistol armed with two 9mm bullets as well as a knife.

Meanwhile, a manhunt for the two missing suspects is still underway.
