One person was killed and more than 60 were injured when two separate tornadoes struck the central Chinese city of Yuhan and another town in eastern China’s Jiangsu province, according to the Chinese news agency Xinhua.
In Johann, 6 people are missing and 41 are being treated after a tornado swept through Qain province at 20.39 local time. According to the agency, the lives of the injured are not in danger. Local authorities said strong winds uprooted trees and tore off roofs of buildings.
A second tornado hit the city of Shengche, near eastern China’s Suzhou, killing one person and injuring 21, two of whom are in critical condition.
The winds damaged power plants and several factories in Shengche, the Suzhou Fire Department said.
