Daniel Gitonga was discovered dead, hanging from a tree. He was born in 2008 and is now thirteen years old. He had traveled from his sister’s home, where he had been staying, to Tuigine in Meru County to see his father identified as John Kaburu.

A sister to the deceased said she first saw him when she was informed that he had been discovered dead and hanging from a tree. She said it was alleged that he came to ask his father for school fees.

Mwenda Njeru, the leader of Kiigene said that well-wishers and relatives had taken in all of the children in the family and educating them.
