Benjamin Saitoti and David Sempuan had approached Nyumba Kumi officials and elders in Kerarapon, Ngong, claiming to have seen Ms Wambua alive at the location where her body was discovered.

The elders immediately notified the DCI, who arrested Mr Saitoti, a local bodaboda rider, and Mr Sempuan, a herder.

During questioning, the two admitted to seeing a man with Ms Wambua and even talking to them before leaving around 5 p.m. That happened on March 12, the same day the former journalist left her job at Ardhi House in Nairobi, never to be seen again.

Kiambu Chief Magistrate Patricia Gichohi has granted the DCI permission to detain all three suspects until April 26th, when the case will be reviewed.
