Deputy President William Ruto has claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta will not be able to meet his agenda when he retires in 2022.
After being elected to serve the second and final term in 2017, President Kenyatta said he aims to achieve and enhance universal health, food security, quality and affordable housing and the industrial sector, under the Fourth Agenda, before stepping down. .
According to the Deputy President, the plans and strategies were thwarted by a compromise between the President and ODM leader, Raila Odinga, in March 2018 popularly known as Handshake.
The two have been working together for some time, despite Mr Raila being the country’s opposition leader. Continuing his campaign in Shamata, Nyandarua, on Friday in a bid to oust President Kenyatta next year, Ruto pledged to continue the agenda set by the country’s leader.
“I say this as we had agreed, even if our President is going to retire, am I not there? We will invest Sh100 billion to improve manufacturing, value addition and strengthen the business sector, ”the Deputy President said. Reviving the journey of his relationship with President Kenyatta between 2013 and 2017, Ruto said he stood firm with the country’s leader despite their August 8 victory being overturned by the highest court.

Dr Ruto has announced he will run for the presidency through UDA, a party he launched this year after his supporters were fired from various parliamentary committees. He has been critical of Jubilee, saying the party is plagued by fraud and lack of democracy.
