Eight people were killed in a 22-vehicle collision caused by a sandstorm on a Utah highway, it became known today by the authorities of the western US state.
“A sandstorm that hit Millard County has killed eight people, including children and several motorists, in a series of accidents last afternoon,” the Utah Department of Public Safety said in a statement.

“Many of the injured were taken to hospitals in the area, three of them in critical condition,” the statement said.
“It seems that 22 vehicles were involved in the accidents yesterday, after strong winds caused a sandstorm or resulted in dust rising, resulting in reduced visibility on the road.”
