Explosions and shootings at a military hospital

Must read

At least two explosions and subsequent shootings were heard today near the Sardar Mohammad Daoud Khan military hospital in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, an eyewitness living in the area told Reuters, according to AFP reporters.

Photos posted by residents on social media show a cloud of smoke rising over the area where the explosions took place.

“I am in the hospital, we heard a loud explosion at the height of the first checkpoint of the hospital, I also hear gunshots,” a medical source at the hospital told AFP. Minutes later, French Agency reporters heard a second explosion in the same area.

So far there has been no comment from Taliban officials or any claim of responsibility.

Islamic State, which has carried out a series of attacks on mosques and other targets since the Taliban took control of Kabul in August, attacked the 400-bed hospital in 2017, killing more than 30 people.
