On June 28, police lobbed tear gas canisters and dispersed protesters led by nominated Meru female MCAs who hired and failed to pay protesters to demonstrate in Meru town against Meru County Woman Representative Hon. Bishop Kawira Mwangaza.
Renowned Meru top opinion maker Son of Monica has schooled the nominated Meru female MCAs on the meaning of receiving nominations “under blankets”.
In interview with Baite TV, Son of Monica said that as the people of Meru County uninamously voted for Hon. Bishop Kawira Mwangaza in the 2017 general elections, the nominated Meru female MCAs were sleeping under a blanket.
“The people of Meru are now being used to criticize and defame other leaders. Nominated Meru female MCAs hired and failed to pay protesters to demonstrate in Meru town against Hon. Bishop Kawira Mwangaza,” said Son of Monica.
“These women were nominated by different political parties. There are those who have been nominated by Kenya’s ruling party, Jubilee. There are those who have been nominated by the PNU party, which is led by former Meru County governor Peter Munya.
“There are two kinds of protests or demonstrations. There are those protests in which people demand their rights. There are demonstrations aimed at smearing the reputations of other leaders. The protests on Monday were organized by women nominated to the Meru County Assembly, who accused Bishop Hon. Kawira Mwangaza of insulting them.
“The women took advantage of her because she spoke the truth and organized protests. According to records, an MCA is assigned an office that is funded by the government. Personal assistants and security are on the government payroll for MCAs. I’m curious what the job of a personal assistant to a nominated MCA entails.

“The nominated MCAs are remorseful and jealous when Hon Kawira Mwangaza wakes up early and visits the mashinani to help the people of Meru County. While Hon Kawira Mwangaza gets up early to support the people in Mashinani, the nominated MCAs on the other hand anticipate earning their allowances at the end of the day after attending meetings.
“The MCAs organized the protests out of jealousy for Hon Kawira Mwangaza. I’d like to inform the people of Meru County that the protests were not as large as those that are expected to be a retaliation by Hon Kawira Mwangaza supporters.
“The organizers of the protests againist Hon Kawira Mwangaza realized they had been lying to the people of Meru County for the past five years with no development to show and decided to hide behind protests. Hon Kawira Mwangaza decided to establish the Mwangaza Gender Based Violence Resource and Rescue Center during the 2018/2019 fiscal year.
“The center’s establishment was tendered in January 2019, and construction work began shortly after. During the 2017 general election campaigns, the Kiraitu Murungi government promised that after five years, no one in Meru County would fetch water with a barrel.
“He also promised to drill 100 boreholes per year, something I have yet to see. Meru County residents should be aware that a drilling machine purchased during the tenure of former governor Peter Munya is parked at the Meru Water and Sewerage Services offices.
“The Kiraitu Murungi government has been awarding contracts to individuals for borehole construction in order for a few people to profit. Meru residents are still fetching water in barrels, indicating that Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s manifesto was based on lies,” said Son of Monica.
