A thief was caught in Mutindwa_Imenti red-handed allegedly stealing cables belonging to a cable company.
BaiteTv received complaints about the thefts from the hawkers saying that cables belonging to a cable Company were being stolen.
The suspect confessed to the series of robberies and told BaiteTV that the cash he received from the sale of stolen wires was for buying food.
According to the suspect, he had been stealing cables and selling them to buyers in Gakoromone and Makutano. The cables are chopped into small pieces before they were sold to the local market.
One of the hawkers told BaiteTv that: “I sell mitumba close to where the faiba cables were located, and I’m worried that the authorities might suspect me. For a metre of cable, the buyers pay Ksh 1000. Owing to copper cable theft, the street lights have also stopped working. The faiba link cables bind the KCB and Equity banks, which is inconvenient.”
