Family of slain kin accuses doctor of forging autopsy report

Must read

Friends and family of Peter Makau, thought to have died as a result of a car accident in Gituampiu in Meru County, accused a pathologist of forging the slain man’s autopsy report.

According to the slain man’s relative, Jacob Miriti, the report had claimed that Makau had succumbed to an illness, denying that he had died as a result of being hit by a car.

“Peter Makau was knocked down by a vehicle in Maua. His body was taken to the morgue and his car was towed to the Maua police station. The autopsy report revealed that his cause of death was tuberculosis. We believe the pathologist forged the results after being offered a bribe by the suspect. The deceased suffered two broken ribs,” Jacob said.

Jacob strongly urged the government to conduct thorough investigations and arrest both the pathologist and the suspect.

According to James, a relative to the deceased, the late Makua never coughed or sneezed at any point in his life.

He said if circumstances force the family to do so, they will sell their ancestral lands to cover legal fees in order to ensure justice for Makau.

A close friend of the deceased, Kaberia said Before his death, he had a chance to meet him in a hospital ward.

He said a surgical incision was made along his rib cage to drain excess blood and internal fluids.

“When his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to Chogoria Hospital. When I went to see him, the doctor told me that they needed to keep the procedure going to stop the internal bleeding until his ribs healed. He had three broken ribs, according to the doctor. I was shocked to learn later that the autopsy report revealed that he died as a result of tuberculosis,” Keberia said.

A close relative of the deceased claimed that the pathologist offered a Ksh 0.5M bribe to the health officer in charge in order to falsify the report.

“Earlier, we were forced to postpone the funeral because the results of the autopsy report had been delayed despite paying a fee of Ksh 7,000,” a close relative said.

The family decided to bury a banana stem in place of its kin’s body, as a grave had been dug.
