In a shocking incident, a father was arrested in Meru County for allegedly raping his 9-year-old daughter, a witness said on Thursday.
The matter came to the fore when the girl revealed her ordeal to her grandmother, who reported the matter to the police.
The victim is a resident of Laare in Igembe sub-county and lived with her father. She said that her father used to strip her naked and sexually assault her.
“When her grandmother informed me of the incident, we went to the police station and made a statement. I thank the OCS for providing us with a vehicle and police officers to apprehend the suspect, who is now in custody and awaiting trial,” a pastor told BaiteTV.
“I used to live with the children after the mother had left. Their father came to get them and said he would live with them. At 8:00 p.m., I heard her crying and when I asked her why she was crying, she said it was for nothing. I went back when I heard her crying again and asked her to show me where she had put the keys. She promised to show me where she had placed them in the morning. When I asked if she was with someone, she lied and said she wasn’t. It was then that I heard Her father’s voice, who suggested that I wait until the next morning to be shown where the keys were placed,” a witness told BaiteTV.
