Five suspected bhang peddlers arrested

Must read

Police officers in Meru county have arrested five people at Milimani area in Imenti on suspicion of peddling bhang.

The arrest came after they were found with bhang seedlings and apparatus.

Police said they were acting on a tip from members of the public who complained of increased sale and abuse of drugs within the area.

Imenti-North sub-county police commander Laban said that the suspects are in custody and will be arraigned in court for engaging in the sale of illegal drugs once investigations are complete.

“On April 29, we received reports that bhang seedlings had been planted at a residence in Milimani-Imenti. Our officers discovered bhang seedlings and apparatus when they arrived at the homestead.

A series of attacks on residents have been reported in the Milimani area. Several suspects have been apprehended, one of whom was recently released from prison.

We are doing everything we can to apprehend the majority of the thieves. The presence of an apparatus indicates that the perpetrators have been carrying out the activity for some time.

We thank the members of the community for acting quickly and informing us. We urge them to report cases as soon as possible so that we can respond immediately,” said the Imenti-North sub-county police commander, Laban.
