Former Treasury CS Henry Rotich charged afresh

Former Treasury CS Henry Rotich, Managing Director, Kerio Valley Development Authority David Kimosop and 9 others were today charged afresh after Anti-Corruption Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi allowed prosecution application to consolidate two cases relating to multibillion-shilling Arror and Kimwarer dams’ scandal.

They denied all 30 counts of the charges, among them conspiracy to defraud the government of Kenya of USD 501,829,769.43, engaging in a project without prior planning, willful failure to comply with applicable law relating to public procurement, abuse of office, willful failure to comply with applicable law relating to management of public funds, committing an offence of financial misconduct, placing Kenya business other than reinsurance business with an insurer not registered under the insurance act without the prior approval of the commissioner of insurance, knowingly giving a misleading document to principal, and neglect to perform official duty.

The case was adjourned for further hearing until 23rd November, 2021.
