Four members of a Muslim family were killed while walking on a street in Ontario when they were swept away by a truck in an attack that Canadian police described as “premeditated”.
The driver targeted a total of five pedestrians in the town of Landon on Sunday night. Four of them lost their lives.
According to Landon Police Chief Steve Williams, authorities believe it was a “deliberate act” and that the victims were targeted “because of their Islamic faith”.
The attack killed three adults and a teenager. Another young person is being treated for serious injuries.
Police have arrested a 20-year-old man, a resident of Landon, as a suspect.
