Unknown individuals set fire to the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) secretary-general Francis Atwoli Road signpost in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.
On the night of Monday, June 14, the Nairobi county government burned down the Dik-Dik Road signpost, which was renamed after Atwoli.
Unknown individuals knocked down the same signage a few weeks ago.
To honor the COTU boss’s commitment to employees, the road was renamed after him.
Kenyans on social media have had diverse reactions to the burning of the sign on Monday.
“Francis Atwoli finally learns that there are Kenyans with low tolerance levels to mediocrity. To others of similar mindset as Atwoli, “MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN”,” said Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi.
