On Tuesday 8, George Koimburi and Pavel Oimeke were sworn in as members of the National Assembly. Speaker Justin Muturi presided over the swearing-in ceremonies of George Koimburi of the Juja constituency and Pavel Oimeke of the Bonchari constituency.
Before the oaths were taken, the new legislators were joined by MPs from their respective parties as witnesses. Koimburi, who is affiliated with Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s PEP party, received 12,159 votes to Njeri’s 5,746 votes.
Oimeke, a former director of the Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority, was elected with 8,049 votes.
Zebedeo Opore of the Jubilee Party came in second with 7,279 votes, while Teresa Bitutu of the United Democratic Alliance came in third with 6,964 votes.
