Gideon Mwiti, the former Imenti Central MP, died after a brief illness at the age of 57.
According to reports, the former legislator died early Sunday morning after being transported to a Nairobi hospital with diabetes-related issues.
Mwiti was elected to Parliament on a Jubilee ticket in 2013 and served until 2017, when he stepped down from politics to pursue a career in business.
Mwiti was accused again in Milimani law court in 2018 for a rape case that had been reported in 2015.

Mwiti testified in front of Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, denying four counts of rape, intimidation, and assault in violation of the law.
He allegedly raped a woman on March 21, 2015 at Tana club on Woodvale Groove in Westlands.
Mwiti is accused of committing an indecent conduct with a kid in violation of the law on comparable dates and locations in the second count.
Mwiti is also accused with injuring a woman with the aim to engage in sexual intercourse with her on March 1, 2015.
