The release of the Sicilian Mafia boss, Giovanni Brusca, whose horrific crimes include the dissolution of a child’s body in acid, has sparked outrage and popular outcry in Italy.
Called the “murderer”, Brusca confessed to his role in more than 100 murders, including the assassination of Italy’s top Mafia prosecutor, Giovanni Falcon.
But Brusca became an informant, helping prosecutors prosecute their colleagues.
His conditional release after 25 years in prison has angered the relatives of his victims.
