Deputy William Ruto has revealed that his government plans to allocate Sh1 billion to projects that will provide job opportunities for unemployed youth. The plan, he said, was one of the Big Four Agenda’s core pillars, but it was cut short by the BBI.
Speaking in Nyamira, Ruto said that his political opponents intended to amend the constitution to give the president more powers and create more leadership positions in the government. On the other hand, he said that the UDA had asked them to halt their plans and focus on growing the economy and creating jobs for the youth first.
“We intend to first expand the economy in order to create job opportunities for our youth so that they can accumulate wealth. We want to plan how small and medium-sized businesses will conduct business in a favorable environment,” Ruto said.
Ruto said that his government intends to subsidize farmers’ production costs and eliminate brokers and cartels so that they can sell their produce at market prices.
We also intend to construct a cutting-edge road so that Kenya can progress. When we change the economy, we will begin with the people at the bottom,” he said
“We will begin by identifying and hiring youth who do not have employment opportunities. Our country’s youth have certificates, diplomas, and degrees, but they are unemployed,” Ruto said.
According to Ruto, the difference between the UDA and his political opponents is that they want to create leadership positions in government, whereas the UDA wants to change the economy so that it can invest in projects that will create jobs for the youth.
Ruto said that it is up to the people to decide who they should bank on.
“We intend to begin by taking care of the citizens at the lowest level, which includes the mama mbogas, and then move on to the small and medium-sized enterprises, where we will allocate a budget for them in a sacco, a sacco for the boda boda operators, and a sacco for the business people at the lowest level so that they are not bothered by the shylock , fuliza and avoid being listed in the CRB,” Ruto said.
“You are all aware that my opponents are Raila Odinga and the leaders of the OKA coalition. I have built roads, technical training institutes, and connected households to electricity in Nyamira,” he said
Ruto said he was curious about what his opponents had accomplished in Nyamira because their work consisted solely of parables, Tialala and Tibim. He said citizens will elect a leader based on their track record.
