Police were called to the house and discovered the woman unconscious and unresponsive in a house with a slash wound to her neck.
A widow was found dead with a slash wound to her neck inside her house during the early hours of the morning.
The police recovered a machete at the location and a manhunt for the suspect remains ongoing.
According to the Mwenda Gitobu, assistant chief, the deceased’s husband died in 2017. He said one of the children was in form two, and the other two were very young.
“I was informed at around 6.30 a.m. that a widowed woman had been discovered dead at her home. I called the police, who arrived to find her neck slashed and her head crushed with a club hammer,” said Gitobu.
According to the chief, the deceased was in a romantic relationship with the suspect
“One of the deceased’s children said that the suspect had visited her mother the night before her death, and there had been a commotion between them in the sitting room after they disagreed. We are baffled as to what motivated the suspect to commit the murder because he does not consume alcohol or use marijuana,” said the assistant chief.
“The suspect is 43 years old, according to the father. His father said he tried unsuccessfully to persuade him to leave home and look for work, said Gitobu.
Stephen, the suspect’s father urged the government to conduct investigations on his son and ensure that justice is served to the deceased family.
“I had just gotten out of bed and was on my way to training when I received a phone call from the assistant chief, who inquired about my whereabouts. I was informed that a woman who used to be in a relationship with my son had been discovered dead,’ said Stephen.
He said the members of the community were saddened by the brutal crime as the children were left orphans.
