Two gunmen not only released a detainee through a court but also robbed the τρια interrogator to whom the suspect was to testify, as it became known on Thursday by the judicial authorities of the city of Bouake, in C Εte d’Ivoire.
The detainee had been transferred from prison to the Bouake court of first instance to testify as part of a gang investigation, armed robbery and illegal possession of weapons and ammunition.
However, when he arrived at the interrogator’s office, accompanied by a police officer, two men armed with automatic weapons managed to enter. They disarmed the policeman and tied up everyone in the investigative office – including a lawyer.
To escape, the perpetrators stripped the police officer and the detainee put on his uniform so as not to be targeted, a judicial source said, requesting anonymity. They then left unmolested, in the interrogator’s black car, after previously taking an unspecified amount of money and a laptop from their victims.
Bouquet’s attorney general, Brahman Cone, told AFP that the case was “an insult that will not go unpunished”.
