A Swiss man was arrested today in northeastern Spain after driving 30 kilometers upside down on a highway with a corpse as his co-driver.
The 66-year-old man was on his way to France, but when he found out that there were police officers at the border who were checking, he turned around and started moving in the opposite direction of traffic.
According to the Catalan police, after ignoring the instructions of the police to stop for 30 kilometers, he entered a side street and a little later crashed, at a distance of about 20 kilometers from Girona.

When police finally approached to see what had happened, they were surprised to find that the co-driver was a dead man.
A police spokesman said it may have been the 66-year-old’s partner, who was also a Swiss citizen. However, they did not find any indication that his death was due to a criminal act.
The driver was arrested and charged only with traffic violation
