Her mobile phone charger burst and she almost lost her eye (video)

A law student was about to lose her sight when a defective charger exploded and sparks entered her eye.

19-year-old Esther Modente, from Birmingham, UK, put her cell phone in the socket on the afternoon of April 27, when she noticed that the charger cable looked a bit damaged.

Shortly afterwards, both the charger and Esther’s cell phone began to heat up, and the young student noticed that smoke was coming out.

Shortly afterwards, the cord began to burst and one of the sparks struck the 19-year-old directly in the eye, leaving her invisible to the left eye, according to the British Mirror.

That night, Esther spent four hours in the local hospital, with doctors treating the wound in her eye, leaving the young girl with a bandage that she had to hold for three days.

As soon as the doctors removed the bandage, the student’s vision had not yet returned, but slowly the girl is recovering.

“I lent my charger to friends over the weekend and when I got it again I saw it was slightly damaged,” says the 19-year-old.

“I did not think it would hurt even more, but when I started filming it started sparking,” he explains.

“A spark entered my eye and I could not see very well. I did not realize that I was too close or that any of the sparks could hurt me,” says Esther.

“I had to have my eye closed with a bandage for 3 days. When I finally took it off, I still could not see clearly. But my vision is clearing up and it will slowly heal,” the young law student is optimistic.

“The surface of my eye was affected. The moment the spark entered my eye, I closed it and immediately felt it swell. I was burning a lot. The swelling and the blurring in my eye worried me a lot,” the young girl explains.

“My vision is still improving and today it is much better, but it will take a long time as the doctors told me,” says Esther about the consequences of her accident with the damaged mobile phone charger.
