Homeowners demand drain fix

Must read

Women and children in Mikinduri were forced to leave their houses at 2 a.m. on April 24 due to flooding. For many years, the residents told BAITETV that they have been complaining about the drainage problem despite Mikiduri town being upgraded and the revenue collection being substantial.

“We shouldn’t be in this situation because Mikinduri town has expanded to the point where it is referred to as Tigania Central. The government must be allocating funds to disasters,” a resident told BAITETV.

“Heavy rain fell last night, forcing residents to remove water from their houses using barrels. Poor drainage is to blame for the problems and we’re wondering where our leaders have gone.

Our request to Hon Gabriel Chokera is to work with Kiraitu, who should immediately come out of the water and come to Mikinduri to see what has happened.

We were enraged because the drainage was built at a cost of KSh 23 million, but water still got into the houses, forcing us to use barrels to force it out, said Mwiti.

“Every year, We have lost over Ksh 10 million due to the drainage problem. Some people are forced to use generators to force the water out of their homes

We demand that our leaders work with Governor Kiraitu to solve the drainage problem and implore the county government to stop collecting council fees and instead come and assist us, said a businessman.
