Hon. Ayub Bundi, a member of the County Assembly for Abothuguchi Central ward said that Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has proven what has always been stated about him: that he is tribal and just cares about himself.
He said the Kiaitu Murungi has all along been advocating for the formation of a party that is not for the Ameru people but for the Abogeta West community.
According to Hon. Ayub Bundi, the party has six members from the community who hold senior positions in the Meru County government, including: Kimathi Ntuerandu, Pamela Gakii, DMK, Mutuma Kibanga Wakili, Mugambi Imanyara and Raeri Murungi.
“Kimathi Ntuerandu is the governor’s advisor who hails from upper Chuuri. Pamela Gakii is DMK’s sister, DMK is from Kiungone and is the Aboguthuchi west MCA,” said Hon. Ayub Bundi.
“Mutuma Kibanga wakili hails from upper Chuuri. He is the Meru County government lawyer as well as Kiraitu Murungi’s lawyer.
“Mugambi Imanyara hails from upper Chuuri and is the secretary-general of Kiraitu Murungi’s party for the Ameru. Raeri Murungi hails from Abogeta West,” said Hon. Ayub Bundi.

According to Hon. Bundi, the party does not have a member from Buuri, Central Imenti, North Imenti, Tigania West, Tigania East, Igembe North, or Igembe South. He said that Eunice Karema is the only member from Igembe Central.
“Five of the party’s six members are from Abogeta West, which includes Chuuri and Kiungone. Kiraitu Murungi has always talked about a party for the Ameru people, but it only includes former Chuuri and Kiungone locations,” said Hon. Ayub Bundi.
“The party leader is filling in for Kiraitu Murungi, who will take over as leader later. He will be the party’s sixth member from the same region as the other members.
Hon. Ayub Bundi cautioned Meru MCAs and MPs allied to Kiraitu Murungi against joining the party because they will be committing political career suicide.
“In 2017, all members of a team allied to Kiraitu Murungi were forced to undergo nominations, and none of them returned to the Meru County assembly. As the general elections in 2022 approach, all those allied to Kiraitu Murungi will not be re-elected,” said Hon. Ayub Bundi.
“Kiraitu Murungi has clearly demonstrated that he recognizes Abogeta West as the only Meru. When the nominations for the 2022 elections will be held, only people from Abogeta West will be nominated and there will be no party for the Ameru people,” Hon. Ayub Bundi.
Hon. Ayub Bundi added that according to records, only people from Abogeta West hold top positions in the Meru County government.
