Thiiri-Migo Thibuku women self-help group from Muthara ward, Tigania east sub-county in Meru county has sent tongues wagging over their latest income-generating project courtesy of Bishop Hon. Kawira Mwangaza empowerment of Ksh 309,000.

The group has stunned many residents after they decided to use the money for table banking that has saved members of the group from having to go through the hassle of obtaining loans and being asked for title deeds as security.

All members of the group are happy, and if you look at them, you will notice that they have become neat and clean. According to one of the members, Bishop Hon Kawira Mwangaza given the first five years as governor of Meru County, the members might be driving and no one will need a bursary again.

“We are grateful to mother county because we have witnessed something we have never witnessed before since we began electing our leaders,” said a member of the group.

“She is not corrupt and only helps those who deserve it. On May 23, she promised that she would come and assist us with funding for an income-generating project. She empowered us with Ksh 309,000 which we used to start a table banking project.

“She distributes the small amount of money allocated to her office throughout Meru County until it is completed. We see her in Imenti and Maiti traversing on deplorable roads, but I know she will do well if we vote for her in 2022.

“When we received the money, we divided it amongst ourselves as a loan. Every member was required to start their own businesses and repay the loan with interest. Some become bean suppliers, potato traders, goat sellers, grocery suppliers, farmers, and chicken feed suppliers.

“We believe the money she supports us will be increased if she is elected governor. We will conduct civic education and work to ensure she is elected governor because she has helped us a lot.

“However, once they receive the money allocated to them from Meru County government, our children will be able to attend school, and the money will be used to repair roads and provide water tanks. We want to make certain that our votes are not misplaced in 2022,” she said.
