Irish police say they are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident, which took place in a house on Monday morning, as broadcast by the BBC.
Police and rescuers tried to help the baby at the scene of the attack before he was taken to Cork University Hospital.
Unfortunately, the death of the child was announced shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
The house has been cordoned off by the police and the authorities are investigating the tragic incident.
According to the Daily Mail, the baby was attacked by the dog in his room. The priest, Milo Giri, stated that the residents of the area are in a state of shock. “He was a little baby, he’s terrible, terribly sad,” he said.
According to him, the parish will offer help to the family whose young member is mourning.
