Husband Of The “Runaway Bride” Finally Clears The Air Concerning His Lost Dowry

Must read

The current news which is on the lips of every Kenyan is about a man from Kiamaro village in Meru County who claims that his father accompanied him to pay his wife’s dowry, which included eight goats, one bull, one cow, and Ksh 45000.

Moses said that later, the cops showed up his house and ordered him to accompany them to his wife’s home where they took the entire dowry with them.

“When I returned home after being released from custody, I discovered that the padlock on the door had been changed,” he said.

“When I asked around, I was told that my wife had arrived in a Probox, and took all of the household items,” he said.

Moses said that he did no break into the house and had no plans to do so.

He said that he would ask members of the community to let him break the padlock and check in on what is left in the house.

“I believe that my house has been left empty, and I have no clothes,” said Moses.

“I intend to go to my family home and look for a gunny bag that I will use to cover myself at night while sleeping,” he said.

“My request is that the items that belonged to me be turned over. So be it if my family opposes my marriage,” he said.

“I have a child named Makena with my wife, and members of the community can attest to this,” he said.

Moses said that his parents were unfair and urged them to give him his land inheritance so that he could be independent.

“When they returned the dowry, my family brought a curse into our home,” he said

“My father was so supportive of my elder brother’s marriage that he found him a wife and paid a dowry of Ksh 20,000 for him,” he said.

According an eyewitness, dowry is never returned in the Kimeru culture.

“Moses’s father should let his son love whomever he wants. Daughters and sons have equal inheritance rights under the tradition,” an eyewitness said.

“Because he opposes their marriage, who does the father expect his son to marry?,” an eyewitness said.

Moses said that he still loved his wife because they had a child together and hoped to have more in the future.
