Deputy President William Ruto yesterday ignored President Uhuru Kenyatta’s efforts to unite opposition leaders to defeat him in next year’s general election.

President Kenyatta convened opposition leaders; Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetang’ula and Gideon Moi have reportedly persuaded them to unite in a bid to defeat Dr Ruto in the 2022 general election.

Yesterday, Dr. Ruto expressed that he is not intimidated by the coalition of leaders, saying that the people want better services from the country’s top leaders and not meetings held by leaders who plan how to share power.

Addressing the people in Kawangware, Nairobi, after attending a service at St Francis of Assisi – Gatina Catholic Church, Dr Ruto said he was different from the minority who promote ethnic politics and would continue to defend the interests of the lower class.

Dr Ruto said he would join forces to oppose constitutional changes aimed at creating positions for the benefit of the few.

He has been opposed to the process of changing the constitution of the Reconciliation Program (BBI) initiated by President Kenyatta and Mr Odinga.

“We want to unite for one purpose. All of us in power need to find ways to represent and unite all Kenyans. I know the six men are heading to Naivasha to resign, ”he said.

He added, “There are more than 15 million Kenyans in need of work and business opportunities. In my opinion, what should be given priority in our nation is not leaders sharing positions and power but how to create economic change and create jobs and provide a better environment for every Kenyan to use his talent, strength and skills to develop the country, ”he said.

He told political leaders who met with President Kenyatta to prepare for defeat by the mahsla in next year’s elections.

However, ANC deputy leader Ayub Savula said the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) summit in Mombasa would continue today despite Dr Ruto’s allegations.
