Former Nairobi deputy governor Polycarp Igathe said that the late billionaire businessman Chris Kirubi had designed the Sonko/Igathe gubernatorial ticket when he eulogised him during the memorial service held at Faith Evangelistic Ministries Church in Karen on June 18, 2021.
“He is the one who designed the ticket. He is my friend, mentor, confidant and allowed me to execute a plan for the city but I regret that things did not work out between me and Sonko,” Igathe said on Friday.
The late businessman fought cancer for a long time.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr Christopher J. Kirubi (1941-2021) who passed away today, Monday the 14th of June, 2021 at 1pm at his home after a long battle with cancer fought with fortitude, grace and courage. He was surrounded by his family.,” a statement from the family read.
The Harvard Business School alumnus was a director at Centum Investment and the chairman of Capital Group Limited, which owned Capital FM, a Nairobi-based radio station when he died at the age of 80.
